Koviashuvik: Making a Home in the Brooks Range by Sam Wright.

Koviashuvik means "living in the present moment with quiet joy and happiness".  Wright shares the story of his return to the simple life, living in a cabin, making his own way with his own hands.  Wright shares his love for the land, the Brooks range, and his wife, Billie.  Written in a journal style with little edited for succinct prose, this story may not be for everyone.

Looking for Alaska by Peter Jennings.

Peter Jennings moved to Seward, Alaska, for a year and a half to really understand what it means to live in the 49th state.  Just riding a bicycle down a hill was an adventure that recaptured the feelings of his youth.  The cool evenings and pleasant temperatures on a June day was a contrast to the heat of the Tennesee that he left behind.  A lynx, a mountain goat, caribou, and wolves were among the animals he saw.  He brings the same eye for wonderment that he shared in A Walk Across America to his discovery of Alaska's expanse.  The book contains 16 full-color pages of photographs, as well as black-and-white photos throughout the book.
